Another year has begun and so has our tributary sampling! Stay tuned for periodic updates about our sampling efforts in 2023.

Tributary Site Map
March 25th: The first round of tributary sampling was a success! Due to there still being some snow on the ground, we focused on the tributaries immediately surrounding the lake
April 8th: The ground was beginning to thaw and so were the tributaries as we collected our second round of water samples. The tributaries were flowing fast!
April 29th: We just beat the rain for this round of tributary samples! We were able to visit the rest of our sites now that the snow has melted.
May 13th: It was a beautiful day in Franklin this weekend! It seems the spring snowmelt is over and the tributary flows were dying down.
May 21st: Another lovely day to collect some water samples. The tributaries were flowing a bit faster than last time
June 10th: Amidst a rainy week we were able to collect a round of samples from the tributaries
June 25th: After a rainy day and with some thick fog we were able to collect another round of samples from the tributaries. It is especially important to obtain these samples after a rain event.
July 9th: A very rainy June has made for some highly vegetated tributaries. We are also lucky to be consistently collecting samples from all sites due to the massive amounts of precipitation.
July 21st: After much heavy rainfall the tributaries were flowing with more water than we have seen in quite some time
August 4th: It has been a rainy summer and the tributaries are still flowing - quite the contrast from last year.
August 18th: The tributaries are still flowing steady! This is unusual for this time of year but it has been an unusually rainy summer.
September 1st: The season is winding down but the streams are still flowing! We have been fortunate this year to collect such a full set of data.
September 15th: Only a few more weeks left in sampling season and we are fortunate to still be collecting samples due to the rainy summer we have had!
September 28th: For the first time this season the streams were running pretty low due to the lovely weather we have been having.
October 13th: The leaves have begun to fall and the tributaries are clearing up. Only a few more collections left in 2023!
October 26th: With a few days of warm weather came another round of tributay samples. We will hopefully be continuing to sample through November
