Water Quality BMP Project

What is the project?

We are partnering with the Franklin County Natural Resources Conservation District (FCNRCD) and Fitzgerald Environmental to implement a series of Best Management Practice projects around Lake Carmi. This project will take place over multiple years and will focus on improving roads and shorelines to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff and erosion in the lake!
This summer we are asking for your input on potential projects at your camps and/or roads.
The FCNRCD would love your feedback on the following questions:
  • What is important to you about Lake Carmi? What is your vision for Lake Carmi?
  • Would you be willing to host us to come to your neighborhood and talk about this project and connect with neighbors? Are there community events that we should attend?
  • Are there areas around the lake where significant progress has been made that we should know about?
  • Are there areas around the lake where there are opportunities for future BMP work – for example, an area of shoreline that can be revegetated, or a streambank that is eroding?

Request a Visit!
Have you made lake or stream-friendly improvements to your land in the Lake Carmi watershed, or participated in the Lake Wise program? Do you want to learn about additional opportunities to improve and restore your land? We’d love to come take a look! To request a site visit, please email info@franklincountynrcd.org with your name, address, the best way to contact you, and a brief description of the improvements you’ve made or the areas you are concerned about. A member of our team will be in touch with you to schedule your visit.
